The Peter W. Williams Award for the Advancement of Multi-Disciplinary Tourism Research encourages original contributions to the advancement of concepts or methodologies central to tourism research.
The winning student will receive a $3,000 prize, complimentary registration to the TTRA Canada annual conference, and up to $1,000 towards travel and accommodation (based on submitted receipts). The winner will attend the conference and present a summary of his/her work.
Applicants must be registered students in an eligible doctoral program at a Canadian university. Eligible disciplines include: economics, geography, psychology, statistics, or management. Tourism, leisure and recreation are considered "traditional" tourism research disciplines in the context of this award and as such are not eligible areas of study.
Applicants must submit a copy of their approved and defended dissertation proposal along with a covering letter updating their progress on the dissertation.
Papers will be rated based on which submission is most likely to substantively advance the concepts or methodologies central to tourism research. The $3,000 award will be presented tri-annually, assuming a successful submission is received each year.
We encourage students to attend the 2011 TTRA International Conference Graduate Student Symposium on June 19th in London, Ontario. Please click here for details.
